I’ve talked over the years at The Healthy Weigh about the 21 Day Brain Detox that I did a couple of years ago. We learned all about it this Thursday at the Team Challenge.

Breaking down toxic thoughts in our brains and building healthy replacement thoughts.

If it’s true that you are what you think then having a healthy brain is a MUST if you want to live a healthy life in the PNW or anywhere else!

If you think you can change the way you’re living without changing the way you’re thinking…well then, you seriously need a brain detox!

Everything we do and say starts as a thought. The 21 Day Brain Detox Plan is a deliberate, disciplined, and intentional way to take control of our thoughts and change the way we think.

Renewing the mind is a lifestyle, not a one-time activity, so this plan is meant to be repeated all throughout the year.

It starts by tackling one negative thought that you want to change. Each day, you work on breaking down the negative thought, while at the same time building up a healthy replacement thought.

Every moment of every day you are changing your brain with your thoughts in a positive or negative direction. Every time you think and choose, you cause structural change in your brain. Your thoughts impact your spirit, soul and body.

Dr. Caroline Leaf creator of the 21 Day Detox, explains it like this; “We have these branches or “trees” are like physical thoughts in the brain. A thought can be either conscious or non-conscious. Thoughts are what we hear, what we decide to be true, what we focus or meditate on and memories. Thoughts create physical creases in the brain which hold information like file folders. These creases in the brain look like branches.”

Apparently, the healthy thoughts create healthy branches, called “green trees.” Good-thought branches release good health and peaceful feelings from endorphins.

Then, it’s understanding that bad thoughts are toxic. They are negative, fearful, stressful, depressing, painful thoughts and they look like black trees. The black trees are dripping toxic chemicals when triggered, making us sick or mentally imbalanced. These are triggered as we dwell on the negative thoughts. They actually stimulate the body into a physical reaction if allowed to continue. You can have, panic attacks, chest pains, shortness of breath, and more just by what you are thinking.

The 21 day detox is all about green-tree activation!

Healthy thinking causes the black trees to shrink and disappear. So dwelling on green tree activities is the key to health. If we keep stimulating the green trees, we will become healthier, peaceful and full of joy.

That is a simple and fast version of a scientific serious real brain detox…I know, I participated faithfully in it…more than one 21 day round!

Because I’ve had such life changing results from my brain detox, It got me thinking about my Healthy Weigh family and what thoughts we talk about each week…year after year!

When I did the brain detox, every day for 21 days I came up with a statement, a sentence, a thought that I repeated out loud or to myself many many many times a day.

Each day another sentence. Each day, many times a day, every time a negative thought, a fearful thought, a destructive thought would come, I replaced it with my new positive truth. I changed my trees from black to green.

At the Healthy Weigh it’s like we have our own language. We have words, that we’ve all learned about that if spoken and focused on could definitely turn black trees to green.

So this week, I came up with 21 of them. 21 “Healthy Weighisms.” 21 concepts, ideas, statements that if thought about, focused on and spoken about, would detox a brain for sure.

I numbered them although they have no particular order of importance. 21 things for you to think about to change your trees from black to green.

1. If nothing changes…nothing changes.

3. Easy to do ~ easy not to do.

4Words have the power to change your life.

5. Do the next right thing.

6The food you need is in the kitchen.

7. Face your stuff ~ don’t stuff your face.

8Truth ~ Grace ~ Time.

9. Change your thinking ~ change your life!

10. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 GO!

11. Not One Stinkin’ Piece!

12. You are WORTHY of beautiful things.

13. If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you.

14. Motivation is in the DOING!

15. Small changes over a long period of time.

16. Know Thyself.

17. Willpower: I will ~ I won’t ~ I want.

18. It’s not about what I’m eating, it’s about what’s eating me.

19. Dear future me

20. You must be present to win.

21. I have a choice every minute of every day.

For many of the Healthy Weigh clients, these are very familiar. For others who are new to our Healthy Weigh family, they heard about them for the first time! I went through the list and explained as quickly and effectively as I could what each one of these meant to our healthy living in the PNW.

It was a fun day and an important day going back over these powerful truths. I love the language we speak at The Healthy Weigh and I KNOW that it has the power to detox and create beautiful GREEN trees in all of us…after all, this is the evergreen state!
